Welcome to the BCA

Welcome to Bristol Childminding Association

The Bristol Childminding Association (BCA) is an independent organisation and registered charity, run by a committee of childminders which came into being in 2005 to provide support for childminders in Bristol.

Since its conception the role of the association is constantly changing with much of the training on offer in the county being provided by Bristol City Council, Band and PEYTU and supported by the Childminding SupportTeam.

The BCA works closely with the childminding support team to promote all aspects of childminding including the promotion of good standards of practice throughout Bristol.

A vital part of the role of the association is to provide a 'voice' for Bristol childminders at both local and national level as well as providing childminders with an opportunity to take advantage of days out and social events for themselves as well as the children and families they work with.

It is our mission to provide support and information to existing and prospective childminders in all areas of Bristol, thus enabling them to maintain and develop their quality childminding service.

To promote childminding as a POSITIVE childcare choice to carers and to the local community as a whole.

To offer support and information regarding childminding issues to childminders, parents, carers and other interested parties.

Membership to the BCA is automatic for childminders, parents and other individuals can also join provided they adhere to the constitution./p>

The committee hold meeting four to six times a year, the dates of these are available on the website and the BCA publication 'Childminding Chat'. Committee meeting are open to all members. A new committee will be formed annually at the AGM where new members are encouraged to join.
